Welcome to Eco-Village Currawong This website has been produced by Eco-Villages Australia Pty Limited to provide members of the community with information about the proposed development at Currawong, on Pittwater on Sydney’s northern beaches. Its purpose is to provide you with clear, accurate information about this proposal and keep you updated with the latest news and project details. The feedback section of the website allows you to provide your thoughts and ideas about this project, so that we can respond and address any concerns you may have throughout the planning process The Currawong site is a 19.77 hectare private property, located on the western shores of Pittwater and sited to the west of Palm Beach. The site is only accessible by water and has approximately 350 metres of water frontage facing onto Pittwater. We understand that the Currawong site has a great deal of social, cultural and ecological significance to the NSW community. Our project is seeking special outcomes for a special place. We are seeking to create a community that preserves the ambience of the Currrawong site as a whole. Project status On 31 March 2008, Eco-Villages Australia lodged an Environmental Assessment, Project Application and State Significant Site Study for assessment by the NSW Department of Planning. This was accompanied by a full, independent Environmental Assessment (EA). These documents were on public exhibition to 23 May 2008. The Environmental Assessment and supporting documents and the State Significant Site Study (as lodged 31 March 2008) are available on the Important Documents page of this website. In December 2007, the Minister for Planning set up an Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel to provide independent advice on the proposed listing of the Currawong Site on the State Heritage Register and the Project Application. The Panel heard submissions on the 4th, 5th and 13th June 2008. On the 25th August 2008, Eco-Villages Australia Pty Ltd lodged a Preferred Project Report to the Department of Planning. The purpose of the Report is to provide responses to the key issues raised in written submissions during the exhibition and notification period to the Department of Planning and the Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel. The Report is available on the Important Documents page of this website. The IHAP and Department of Planning are currently considering the responses contained within the Preferred Project Report. The project team Eco-Villages Australia Pty Limited is the proponent for the Project Application. Their vision for the site is to create a model community, that will be recognised for achieving ecologically sustainable design quality and outcomes. The Project Application has been prepared for Eco Villages Australia Pty Ltd by a highly experienced consultant team including:
